Packing for the Bay Area

The Bay Area has something called "micro-climates". It can be 80+ degrees at the house, but if you go into San Francisco, it can be between 10 and 20 degrees cooler and at the Golden Gate bridge - downright cold (e.g. 59 degrees and foggy)!

We recommend bringing layers to handle the various climates. There's usually someone at the Golden Gate bridge selling $50 sweatshirts to the freezing visitors who didn't dress properly :)

Checkin Time

Check-in time is 3pm. We can sometimes arrange an early check-in so please contact us if you will arrive early and we'll do our best, without any promises! We suggest you refer to the “Things To Do” section on what to do if you arrive early - there is plenty to keep you entertained!

Accessing Sunset Cottage

We use a lockbox for entry and will provide you with an access key code before arrival. This will allow you to check yourself in to the property. Please ensure you have the code before you travel. If not, please contact us. There's nothing worse than arriving somewhere new (potentially at night) and not being able to get in!

If possible, we'll come over and welcome you personally as well as share any recent details about the house.

Parking

There is dedicated onsite parking for 2 cars.

The first car can park in the driveway. The second car can park in the small gravel area next to the mailbox.

Driving Directions

If you are arriving via car, please use Google Maps (or another map / directions service) to navigate to Sunset Cottage.

Bay Area traffic can be tricky, especially at rush hour. The good news is, there is always more than one way to get somewhere! We recommend getting a traffic app for your phone for trips - we like Waze. Waze will automatically route you around any traffic issues, such as accidents or construction and plot the fastest course to get you where you want to go.
